Certificate in Creative and Performing Arts (20 Credits) 2019 Performance Tables

RSL offers a standalone qualification at Level 1 with two pathways (Dance or Acting) for delivery to learners aged 14-16.

Each qualification has an externally assessed core (mandatory) unit – Live Performance - which takes the form of a controlled assessment.

The controlled assessment involves the planning, execution and evaluation of a practical task. None of RSL’s qualifications involve a written examination.

RSLs Level 1 Syllabus comprises 38 units across areas as diverse as Choreography and Make Up and Prosthetics. The Level 1 syllabus is designed to give those new to performing arts and related  industry disciplines a solid grounding in their chosen field so that they may develop their knowledge and skills further at a higher level in future.   

Each unit comes with a specification document which includes guidance on delivery and assessment of the unit as well as the learning outcomes and assessment criteria. Grading criteria are also included. You can download all the specifications here

Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts (60 Credits) 2019 Performance Tables

RSL offers twos qualification at Level 2 which contribute to performance tables.

For 14-16 year olds we offer a Certificate qualification (20 credits) with two pathways (Dance or Acting).

For learners aged 16 or over we offer a Level 2 Diploma (60 credits) with three pathways (Dance, Acting or Musical Theatre).

 

The Certificate has an externally assessed core unit – Live Performance – which takes the form of a controlled assessment.

The controlled assessment involves the planning, execution and evaluation of a practical task. None of RSL’s qualifications involve a written examination.  

The Diploma qualification has an externally assessed core unit – Final Production – which also takes the form of a controlled assessment. In addition to this, there is a mandatory internally assessed core unit which is Planning for a Career in the Creative and Performing Arts.

RSL offers two qualifications which contribute to School and College performance measures at Level 3. Each qualification features three pathways – Acting, Dance and Musical Theatre.

A learner undertakes one external assessed unit in their first year of study – Performance Preparation - and a further externally assessed unit – Final Production - if they wish to complete the Extended Diploma.

Along with the externally assessed core unit, learners must also undertake an internally assessed core unit – Planning for a Career in the Creative and Performing Arts.

The controlled assessment involves the planning, execution and evaluation of a practical task. None of RSL’s qualifications involve a written examination.

RSLs Level 3 syllabus comprises 92 units covering areas as diverse as Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre, Technical Theatre and Business. The Level 3 syllabus is designed build on the knowledge and skills of learners who may already be an experienced dancer, actor, musical theatre performer, technician or budding entrepreneur.  The range of available units allows learners to specialise in a specific area of study or undertake units in a range of disciplines to broaden their skillset.  Learners completing a level 3 qualification can enter the workplace or continue to further study at a University of their choice or on RSL’s unique Level 4 Creative Practitioners qualification.
