The UK has a long history of making world class video games. With the global gaming market estimated in excess of £160bn, the opportunities for the UK games industry have never been greater.
If your learners have aspirations of forging a career in the games industry, or simply have a passion for digital games, you can build a tailored course for them with Creative Digital Media’s “Game Design” pathway.
The Game Design pathway will give students the skills to plan, pitch and create digital games from scratch, and be a platform to launch their career in the interactive entertainment industries. From Digital Games Production to 3D Modelling, Character Rigging to Environment design, no aspect of the game development process is left unturned.
Students are continually contributing to their portfolio of practical work by delivering projects based on authentic briefs that puts them in real-world development scenarios. This body of work can be presented to universities or employers when considering their future options.
With a plethora of Optional and Skills Units available, you can tailor your courses to incorporate the latest industry trends and techniques. This is mirrored in terms of software usage allowing you to utilise industry-standard programmes such as Unity, Unreal Engine and the Adobe Creative Suites (among others!).
This unit aims to promote the learner’s understanding of the key concepts tools, and processes underpinning the design and development of 3D digital games available to the consumer across a range of platforms, and of the factors driving their development.
The purpose of this unit is to facilitate a practical opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of 3D environment development processes in the context of an understanding of potential audiences and destinations.
Learners must apply knowledge and understanding of the design and production of 3D digital animation and its potential uses across a range of digital media products and destinations according to the brief to create a digital animation.
Learners must develop a character rig for use in animating a static 3D digital character. The rig should take into account the potential for enhanced characterisation through movement as specified by the context of the brief, undertaken using an appropriate combination of rigging software packages.
