The Purcell School for Young Musicians selects RSL Awards’ teaching materials for new Commercial and Popular Music Department!
British specialist music school for children, The Purcell School for Young Musicians is set to open a new Commercial and Popular Music Department, available to students in September 2022 and will be supported by Rockschool accredited grades 1-8 for electric guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboardists and vocalists.
The Purcell School is Britain’s oldest school for young musicians, located in the town of Bushey, south Hertfordshire, England. The School offers an unparalleled musical and academic education, combined with outstanding pastoral care, for students aged 11-18.
Young musicians, of remarkable ability and promise from all backgrounds, are provided with the best possible teaching and environment in which to fulfil their potential. The School affords ideal opportunities for practising, performing and developing musicianship.
Seeking to deliver tailor-made contemporary qualifications for their new Commercial and Popular Music Department, The Purcell School sought to be supported by RSL Awards, a global awarding body that reflect their ambitions of providing an academically rigorous music education ranging from introductory grades to advanced level of study, preparing students from all walks of life, for life-long careers as musicians.
Using Rockschool materials, young rock and pop students residing in the UK will have the opportunity to receive a government funded education at The Purcell School, while international students may access the School’s own Bursary Fund, both of which are means-tested. Rockschool’s graded Music Exams have been designed with industry relevance, student engagement and academic rigour. Every practical, theoretical and aural test has been written and developed by a panel of industry professionals and highly credited educators in order to give students an unrivalled level of academic grounding and understanding.
Regulated by regulated by Ofqual, SQA, CCEA, and Qualifications Wales, learners have the opportunity to gain UCAS points (at Grades 6-8) for progression onto higher education, making RSL Awards the international benchmark for academic progression in the creative arts.
