I have played drums for most of my life and for the last 15 years have worked extensively as a professional musician. Having studied with first class tutors such as the late great Ed Thigpen, Dave Hassell, Brian Frasier-Moore, Steve White and Donavan Hepburn, I’ve equipped myself with the knowledge and experience necessary to be an outstanding musical and reading musician. I am at home with both acoustic and electronic drums/triggers. I started Rossendale Drum Lessons to give me the opportunity to pass on my experience to the next generation. My professional achievements to date include performing and recording with the likes of Kyla Brox , Gloria Gaynor, Curtis Harding, Glen Nicholls, The Osmonds, Susan Boyle, Jonathan Ansell, Lucien Barbarin, Phil Manzanera, The Swing Commanders, Jive Aces and Future Funk Squad. I have toured all over the world as a session drummer performing throughout Europe including three performances at Glastonbury Festival in the UK, Pitchfork Festival in Paris, New Fall Festival in Germany, Floralia Festival in Holland, Satisfaxion Festival in Spain, Pop Komm in Berlin, Rendezvous Festival in France, Enjoy Jazz Festival in Germany, TM Base Festival in Romania and Beautiful Days Festival in UK. Experienced in TV work, I’ve performed on the BBC, ITV and TV in America and Europe. I also record drums remotely for many producers, bands & artists for projects such as TV adverts, film soundtracks and albums.

Our 10 year son has been going to Mark for drum lessons for the last couple of months. From the beginning Mark has always been extremely helpful tailoring his first lesson as a "drum experience" because it was a birthday gift. Our son hates extra curricular classes but one lesson with Mark and he was hooked. Marks easygoing nature and wealth of knowledge and experience gave our son a new passion for drums which he has quickly become absorbed into with the help of Marks friendly, welcoming, calm and encouraging approach as a teacher. Our son loves going to his lessons and counts down the days until his next one. Mark was also an incredible source of knowledge and expertise when we came to buy a drum kit and he gave us an abundance of essential advice to make sure we got the right items. We have learnt a lot from him too! I have and will continue to recommend Mark to anyone thinking of starting the drums whatever their age.
If you want to learn to play the drums there is no better teacher than Mark. As a professional drummer himself he is well qualified to teach you, whether you are an experienced drummer but need to cure some bad habits, have been playing for a bit and want to develop, or are a complete newcomer. He is experienced in a number of musical genres so whatever your particular interest, Mark can help you become a better drummer
I found Mark to be knowledgeable, patient and really keen that his students get the most out of their music, whether playing just as a hobby, or looking to do some more serious work. He is also a really nice, approachable and genuine man.
Mark's level of teaching is excellent and we are very pleased with our son's progress and how Mark has helped him rediscover his enthusiasm for the drums. He so enjoys his lessons and is keen to practise every day and relishes learning more. We highly recommend him if you are looking for a drum teacher.
