Piano, Music Theory.
Professional music educator, Dr Elly Hughes has over 10 years' experience teaching Music across a variety of settings. Working initially in Cornwall, and most recently for Shropshire Music Service, she has delivered the National Curriculum for Music across Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Elly is also a highly experienced teacher of Piano, Electronic Keyboard and Music Theory, both working through the music service and her private practice. She was a highly regarded Music Specialist Teacher and Co-ordinator at Bosvigo Primary School in Truro. The School performed with The English Touring Opera, Duchy Opera with composer Paul Drayton, and alongside the Philharmonia Orchestra under Charles Hazlewood. Elly has lead musical ensembles from Bosvigo's Choir and Orchestra, to the much-praised Bosvigo Samba Band, working under Sean Hooper of the Truro School of Samba. The School regularly competed at the Cornwall Music Festival, and performed at Music for Youth Festival. Elly also delivered INSET training to other local Primary School Music Coordinators under Angela Renshaw's vocal strategy for Cornwall and is currently developing experience teaching children with Special Educational Needs. With a PhD from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at Southampton, she has also taught primary Science lessons on acoustics. She is a published author, with internationally recognised research papers in medical physics. Elly qualified with a Level 6 Licentiate Diploma in Music Teaching from Rockschool Ltd.
