“The Acting Department at RWCMD places essential emphasis on our students working with leading professionals. We have been delighted to work with David, who has brought to our department his wealth of West End experience. Musically articulate, sensitive, generous and insightful, David has inspired and encouraged our professionals in training, and has been a great source of support and encouragement to our flagship MA Course in its early years.
It is my opinion that David will be an asset to any department requiring the highest standards of musicianship and professionalism”
Vivian Care, Course Leader Musical Theatre, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama
“Throughout 6 years of professional association David has consistently proven himself to be a musician of the highest calibre. He brings an enviable degree of experience to his musical direction, and demonstrates considerable expertise in terms of conducting prowess and piano performance. David is well liked by his peers, and enjoys the trust of company members and orchestra alike. As a consequence it is a pleasure to leave the show in David’s care, as the quality of the production is always assured”
Richard John, Music Director, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” Savoy Theatre, West End
“I have known David Laugharne for six years. All that time he has been part of my musical team working on a long-standing musical television series called Noson Lawen, for Channel 4 Wales.
In his role as Assistant Musical Director I have been impressed with not only his knowledge of music genres and their application but his ability to work with, and bring the best out of performers of all ages and experience. David has the ability to make performers feel relaxed at rehearsals and then consequently to perform well during recordings with the benefit of his instructions, which are delivered in a coherent and encouraging manner...He is equally at home in a group context as in an individual one and his authoritative yet patient manner brings out the best in people”
