Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass, Music Theory.
My name is Curtis McDonnell and I have been playing guitar for 11 years, I spent my early musical years teaching myself how to play guitar but I didn't find myself getting anywhere with my playing after a while so I started getting lessons. I was put forward to do my Grade 6 exam straight away, after passing that exam I then skipped Grade 7 straight onto Grade 8 and passed with flying colours. After achieving my Grade 8 in 2015 I moved to London to study Professional Guitar Performance at The Academy of Contemporary Music. These three years taught me more about the music industry than I could imagine, and allowed me to excel as a guitar player both on and off stage. I have been focussing on my solo artist career for a while and have played at some amazing venues across London, and also selling shows out in Cardiff. I graduated from The Academy of Contemporary Music in the summer of 2019 with a BA (Honours) Degree in Professional Music Performance. I'm very excited to share my skills and knowledge with others so that they can excel in whichever way they want to on the guitar. I believe that learning any instrument should be a fun process and that's what I aim to achieve with all of my students. Learning to play the guitar is hugely rewarding with so many different styles to choose from, I am prepared to teach my students only what they want to learn whether that is grades or just to learn a few cool songs to impress their friends. I specialise in blues lead guitar, but I can offer a huge variety of learning styles from acoustic to heavy metal - whatever it is you want to learn! The student always comes first!
