Andy Blakeley (1961-) lives near Manchester, in the north west of the UK. In his teens Andy cut his teeth on the gigging circuit before going on to record in Los Angeles and study percussion in Havana and Santiago, Cuba. After years of sessions and performing Andy decided to lay down some roots, and study the academic subject of English Literature, earning a BA(hons)and MA Lit. From there a busy drum teaching career quickly developed and Andy soon built a reputation for promoting good technique, along with a healthy respect for notation reading in many styles of music. Andy has taught all levels, in many academic institutions, including the international and widely respected BIMM group of music schools. Andy also 'tinkles' on keyboards, and is a keen music tech user, recording drum performances, and his own musical ideas, in a wide range of genres. Andy continues to perform and teach in and around the north of England, along with pursuing his other passions of walking, reading good fiction and watching any half-decent film.
