RSL Awards and MusicTeacher.com: Building a Trusted Home for Music Teachers
The RSL Group is proud to announce that MusicTeacher.com will become the official Teacher Registry for RSL Awards. This partnership is about one simple goal: giving independent music teachers the recognition, tools, and support they need to build long-term careers.
“Our partnership with MusicTeacher.com ensures that the RSL teacher community will benefit from a trusted platform that combines independent certification, targeted CPD, and a professional teacher registry. Together we are creating an industry-standard resource that not only validates and supports teachers, but also gives students and parents the confidence to choose a verified professional. This is an important step in strengthening our network and raising standards across music education.” Tim Bennett-Hart – CEO, The RSL Group
Private music teachers already play a vital role in shaping music education. What has been missing is a central place that recognises their professionalism, showcases their skills, and makes it easier for families to find a trusted teacher.
MusicTeacher.com has already helped thousands of teachers connect with students worldwide. Together with RSL Awards, it will now provide a registry that is trusted by parents and dedicated to teacher growth through certification, training, and student visibility.
The RSL Teacher Registry has served our community for over ten years, but we’ve not been able to add new features for some time. Moving to MusicTeacher.com allows us to modernise the registry, improve your visibility in search results, and introduce benefits such as free CPD courses for teachers.
Verification of safeguarding and insurance documentation will also become integral to maintaining profiles, giving parents and students confidence that lessons are delivered safely and professionally. Pre-filtered RSL teachers can be accessed from the RSL Awards site, and current Teacher Registry users can access for free until at least 2027, after which only verified teachers will be listed.
We’ve designed a simple process to help onboard all RSL teachers onto MusicTeacher.com. Because it’s your data, you’ll need to opt in. This can be done any time between 27th October and 31st December 2025. Once you do, your profile will be transferred and ready for onboarding!
“Independent music teachers have always been at the heart of music education, yet too often they’ve lacked the recognition and infrastructure that other professions take for granted. Through our partnership with RSL Awards, MusicTeacher.com offers independent certification for music teachers, targeted CPD training, and a trusted student-search platform – giving teachers the validation, skills, and opportunities they need to build sustainable careers. That means you’ll be seen, trusted, and able to grow your teaching career with confidence.” Matthew Rusk – Founder, MusicTeacher.com

Here is what this means for teachers.
Why Become a Certified Teacher on MusicTeacher.com?
1. Trust and Validation
Music teachers already hold recognised qualifications and demonstrate professionalism in their work every day. What has been missing is a single, central platform that brings this together in a clear and trusted way for families searching for a teacher.
Through certification with RSL Awards and MusicTeacher.com, teachers can showcase their credentials with confidence, while parents and students gain the reassurance of choosing from a verified, professional registry.
- Be recognised as a certified teacher in your country
- Show parents clear, verified proof of your professionalism
- Be listed in a trusted database where families can easily find you
For families booking lessons, the process becomes easier and more reliable, with the confidence that they are choosing from independently verified teachers.
2. Skills and Training
Independent music teachers are incredibly resourceful, many having developed their own way of doing things – refining their approach through experience, instinct, and countless lessons taught.
MusicTeacher.com builds on that foundation by sharing what we’ve learned from supporting thousands of teachers worldwide. Training and CPD courses draw from the collective experience of successful teachers to give you practical, proven ways to strengthen every aspect of your teaching business.
The growing course library is built around the real challenges music teachers face, with practical training on topics such as:
- Safeguarding and child protection
- Building your teaching online
- Preparing students for exams or performances
- Expanding your income (e.g. group lessons, workshops, or online courses)
- Teaching students with additional needs
You’ll come away with practical ideas you can put into action immediately – helping you teach more effectively and run your music teaching business more successfully.
3. Students and Growth
Every teacher values a steady flow of new students. Alongside certification, professional development, and joining a vibrant teaching community, MusicTeacher.com membership also increases your visibility to parents and students looking for independently verified teachers.
Certified teachers are featured in the MusicTeacher.com international database, a trusted platform used by parents and students searching for music lessons. This database will now also power RSL Awards’ music teacher searches, meaning that parents looking for RSL teachers will be directed to profiles on MusicTeacher.com.
Your profile gives you:
- Visibility within a respected international teacher directory
- A professional public listing that highlights your certification
- The opportunity to receive direct verified enquiries from students and parents
While student enquiries can’t be guaranteed, many teachers find that being visible on MusicTeacher.com helps them attract more of the right students – those genuinely interested in learning and committed to lessons.
What Happens Next
The transition from the RSL Awards Teacher Registry begins 27th October 2025. Teachers will have until December 31, 2025 to migrate their profiles to MusicTeacher.com.
You will receive full guidance on how to make the move. The process is quick, and support will be available every step of the way.
All migrated RSL Teacher Registry teachers will appear in student searches for free referred from the RSL Awards website until 31st December 2026. After that, only verified profiles with safeguarding and insurance checks will be shown in student searches, ensuring safety and professionalism for students and parents.
This partnership marks the start of a new chapter for independent music teachers. With recognition, training, and visibility combined, you will have the tools you need to build a stronger, more secure teaching career.
