Qualification Structure

The Teaching Diploma consists of two units:

Unit 1: Music lesson planning and delivery

The first unit is 100% coursework and comprises a portfolio of lesson plans and Home Study Plans, videos of teaching and the demonstration and analysis of a piece.

Unit 2: Assessing and observing teaching practice

The second unit is made up of two exams; one written and one oral. For this unit teaching practices are discussed and learner performances are assessed from video clips. Candidates are required to display thorough knowledge of setting up a small business, Special Educational Needs, health & safety and child protection.
