June! It’s the month of classic summer festivals such as Isle of Wight and Glastonbury kicking off, while the Rockschool summer exam period really cranks into gear!

Although it’s been an (un)surprisingly wet month thus far, we’ve still enjoyed all of the activities you’ll find below in this month’s RSL Newsletter!

With the summer holidays fast approaching, we want to start by wishing all the learners practising for their upcoming Rockschool exams; and all those waiting for their results – the very best of luck! Remember, you can still visit the RSL news page to get some great tips for preparing for your exam!

Replay: revolutionise your practise

We are delighted to announce we have a brand-new practise tool in the works, giving you the ability to master your instrument like never before.

The interactive sheet music player allows you to jam along with, slow down and loop tricky passages of your favourite Rockschool performance pieces. Avoid picking up bad habits when practising with Replay by switching between backing tracks, full performances and MIDI audio accompaniments.

“Since 2017, MusicGurus and RSL have sought to innovative the music education sector together. Now delivering online-exams in over 20 countries globally, an interactive sheet music tool to support quality student practise via the Rockschool range is something we’re both really excited to introduce for 2019.” Tom Rogers, Co-Founder (MusicGurus)

John in Central America

RSL CEO, John Simpson, was off to Central America recently; visiting Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia launching the new Piano and Keys syllabuses in their respective regions.

John caught up with rep, Ismael Ramos, who covers Mexico and Central America from his hometown of Mexico City. The trip started with a visit to Escuela de Música DIM and Centro de Artes y Música where there has been a huge growth in the interest in Rockschool exams due to the hard-work of the Mexico team. Make sure you check out both venues as they are involved in some great projects for young musicians.

With a total of 12 new schools in Mexico and Central America appearing in the last year, we couldn’t be more excited about the future in this part of the world and the fantastic success stories we plan to pass on in the coming year.

“It was a great opportunity to show John all the work and progress I am making. All presentations and visits to schools went well and I felt very supported all the time. I am very thankful for his visit.” Ismael Ramos, Mexico rep

It’s been a busy time for RSL Spain! Country Manager, Antonio Olazábal, was interviewed by popular rock music station Rock FM radio where he had the opportunity to discuss Rockschool Spain and the teacher and students they support up and down the country.

Rockschool Spain also participated in the Crazy Drummers Day! The event was held in Quintanar de la Orden, Toledo, Spain with the goal of beating the Guinness World Record for the biggest battery crescendo. All the participating drummers, many of them from Rockschool centres all over Spain, played the Rockschool track ‘Munky Fusic’ during the attempt – a classic from our Drums Grade 1 material.

How did they do? Of course, they broke the record! Felicidades to all participants and also to everyone who helped to make the event a success.

Luca @ ICMP (London)

RSL Italy’s Luca Pellizzaro recently visited London for the first of two events this year. This was held at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance where he took students through their paces in his excellent Music Production workshop.

Luca was joined by music producer and composer, Craig Lowe, who delivered a special Music Production masterclass with the help of Ableton Live.
