Horace Trubridge, new General Secretary of MU

Horace Trubridge (RSL licentiate) has been announced as new General Secretary of the Musicians Union.

Please join us in congratulating both Horace Trubridge and the MU today. The MU declared Mr. Trubridge their new General Secretary shortly after the result of the ballot was confirmed by an independent scrutineer.

The ballot for members was held between 6 - 27 March 2017, with the two candidates being MU Executive Committee member, Kathy Dyson, and MU Assistant General Secretary, Horace Trubridge.

RSL was proud to award Horace an Honorary LRSL (Licentiate Teaching Diploma) at our first Diploma Award Ceremony at the Roundhouse (Camden) on the 21st September 2009 and we are certain that Horace's vision will only serve to bolster the MU's already stellar record in supporting musicians up and down the country.

Commenting on his appointment, Trubridge stated:  I am absolutely delighted that the members have chosen me to take the Union forward following John Smith's retirement in July. Having spent the last few months travelling around the country and talking to the members, I have a very clear vision of where the Union should be heading - building on John's fantastic work of the last fifteen years - and I am eager to get started.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the executive committee and all the members of our Union for their tremendous support, I look forward to justifying that support and meeting the difficult challenges that lay ahead.
