To celebrate the launch of RSL Awards' Creative Qualifications in podcasting, we've put together a Starter Kit to get you on the way to making your first podcast!

Grades in podcasting?

That's right! Podcasts have absolutely exploded in popularity in recent years and there’s seemingly no end to the number of different formats now available and there are so many great shows for you to become immersed in. We thought it was about time there was a suite of qualifications that formally recognised students' abilities to create awesome podcast content.

Part of podcasting’s popularity comes from its accessibility. With a few bits of simple equipment and tech, anyone can take a bright idea and turn it into a tangible, working project to share with an audience. That’s why we’ve launched an unprecedented series of grades in podcasting, from debut to 8, under the banner of Creative Qualifications from RSL Awards.

So what's in this starter kit?

In this starter kit you'll find everything you need to get familiarised with podcasting. Discover what kind of podcasts are currently being created and how these can inspire your own content creation.

Learn about scripting, recording, and editing your podcast in an easy but efficient way. You can also read about releasing your podcast, including some marketing tips from our very own in house team of marketing whizzes.

We have applied the same pedagogy of progressive mastery that has been used to learn musical instruments for over 100 years in order to build a framework around the art of podcasting. After all, the first Rockschool grades were designed to reward and benchmark popular musical instruments where no framework had previously existed. Now we’re once again helping to formalise the informal and equip you with the skills you need to get industry-ready, pursue a fun hobby, or simply make great content!

You don’t have to be an expert to record and release a podcast, but we’re hoping that by the end of this guide you should have a good idea of how you can take your first steps into the world of podcasting.
